July 26, 1990, the Americans with Disabilities was signed into law. But it began long before in cities and living rooms throughout the U.S. when people with disabilities and their advocates began to challenge societal barriers that excluded them from their communities. Without the work of so many in the disability rights movement – there would be no ADA. Today we say thank you. And, we also say thank you to the thousands of speech-language pathologists, individuals with aphasia and their families, advocates from all walks of life working together for communication access.
